The Glide Emerging Leaders Internship
Experience a ground-breaking model of urban leadership and community development.
Glide extends an invitation to students of UC Davis and UC Berkeley to apply for a paid internship in our dynamic Empowerment Journey for Emerging Leaders. Interns will work for an exciting, activist organization and gain hands-on experience working with the poor and marginalized.
Follow your interests. Develop new skills.
Glide has developed a network of comprehensive programs to meet the needs of the Tenderloin community. This includes the Daily Free Meals Program that serves nearly 1 million meals a year: family, youth and child care programs; seniors programs; training and employment services, including high-tech training; health services, including a health clinic, mental health services, recovery programs and HIV/AIDS outreach programs; and low-income, permanent housing.
Interns are matched within one of Glide’s departments according to their interests, background, and the organization’s current needs. While some interns are involved in direct service, others work internal to the organization building new capacities and programs. The program includes a 2-week intensive immersion giving interns a broad experience of Glide’s values, mission, and social action programs. The remaining 8-10 weeks will be focused on a program-specific project. There will be weekly workshops with Glide staff and community leaders as well as team and individual debriefs.
