In the Tenderloin, youth and teens come into the responsibilities of adulthood at a very early age. Glide's programs for elementary, middle, and high school students are staffed by teachers and mentors who help youth develop at their own speed. Staff work closely with the school district and Department of Human Services, as well as other social service agencies to ensure all needs are being met.
Through a vocational track curriculum, tutoring, counseling, computer training, peer discussion groups, creative arts, and trips outside the Tenderloin, youth and teens come to realize their own strengths and abilities. As they move into young adulthood, Glide kids do so as leaders, shaping the future as it unfolds.
Youth and teen programs are located at the Janice Mirikitani Family, Youth, and Childcare Center (
434 Ellis). For more information on youth and teen programs, call (415) 674-6200 or email
