Angela's Story

by Angela Coleman, WIC Client Advocate
I’ve worked as a Client Advocate in the Walk-In Center for over a year.  Before that, my first position at GLIDE was a Church Monitor for five years.  I was working part-time as a monitor until I lost another part-time position at another company, and then became a full time GLIDE Security Monitor. Losing the other position was truly a blessing, I see now.  I am also honored and privileged to host our weekly SpeakOuts along with Jan and Cecil, for two years now and counting.
All this happened after I graduated from Walden House in a one-year residential program for behavior modification of substance abuse.  I entered Walden House after being released from a one year sentence at 850 Bryant, the County Jail.
GLIDE has taught me not how to survive but how to thrive in my recovery and I am truly grateful for all the support I receive from this wonderful place.  I know that I was meant to be here to give back to this community I so love to serve.
My name is Angela Coleman and I am GLIDE.
