 e achievements\, peoples\, and cultures of Hispanic people and Hispanic 
 Americans. The month honors the contributions which Hispanic people have
  made to the United States. These contributions have been long-standing 
 and vital to the success of the U.S. We also honor the rich history of H
 ispanic peoples during this month because their heritage and stories des
 erve recognition and time in the spotlight.\n\nThis year we are honored 
 to have iconic American Labor Leader and Civil Rights Activist Dolores H
 uerta as a featured speaker. Dolores will speak of the challenges\, and 
 achievements\, of her path\, and the contributions and future of the Lat
 inx/immigrant communities.  A question-and-answer session lead by our H
 ost Olga Talamante will follow.\n\n\nHost: Latina Civil Rights Activist\
 , Olga Talamante \n\n\n\nOlga Talamante is the Executive Director Emeri
 tus of the Chicana Latina Foundation (CLF). She became the first Executi
 ve Director of CLF in January 2003 serving in that position until March 
 of 2018.  She received her BA from UC Santa Cruz and Honorary Doctorat
 e Degree from the University of San Francisco. She is widely respected f
 or her community activism and leadership in the Chicana community\, Lati
 n American solidarity\, LGBTQ\, immigrant\, and progressive political mo
 vements.  \n\nShe currently co-chairs the Caravan for the Children co
 alition advocating for the children separated at the border.   \n\n

 eaker: Dolores Huerta is Founder and President of the Dolores Huerta Fo
 undation.  She co-founded the United Farm Works of America with Cesar C
 havez.\n\n\n\nDolores Huerta is a civil rights activist and community or
 ganizer.  She has worked for labor rights and social justice for over 5
 0 years.  In 1962\, she and Cesar Chavez founded the United Farm Worker
 s union.  She served as Vice President and played a critical role in ma
 ny of the union's accomplishments for four decades.  In 2002\, she rece
 ived the Puffin/Nation $100\,00 prize for Creative Citizenship which she
  used to establish the Dolores Huerta Foundation (DHF).  \n\nDHF is con
 necting groundbreaking community-based organizing to state and national 
 movements to register and educate voters\; advocate for education reform
 \; bring about the infrastructure improvements in low-income communities
 \; advocate for greater equality for the LGBT community\; and create str
 ong leadership development. \n\nShe has received numerous awards among t
 hem The Eleanor Roosevelt Humans Rights Award from President Clinton in 
 1998.  In 2012 President Obama bestowed Dolores with The Presidential M
 edal of Freedom the highest civilian honor in the United States.
