SUMMARY:Tenderloin Walking Tour
DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, June 11th join us on after the 11am service for a f
ree walking tour of the Tenderloin and to learn about Glide Pride\, with
Tenderloin Mid Market Walking Tours.  Tenderloin Walking Tours take yo
u on a journey of discovery\, revealing un-thought of aspects of the nei
ghborhood and sometimes astounding you with visions and stories of its p
eople that live and where here.  This is an amazing part of San Francis
co and the tours tell you about it.\n\n\nThe Original Tenderloin/Mid-Mar
ket Walking Tour takes you on a journey of discovery\, revealing the tr
ue nature of a much-maligned\, often avoided and almost always overlooke
d neighborhood. The thirty-one blocks of the Tenderloin district are the
beating heart of a city peopled by immigrants and iconoclasts\, artists
and activists\, sinners and saints. Its history plays an integral part
in the growth and development of the City\, the Bay Area\, California an
d the US. Our Tenderloin/Mid-Market Walking Tours have guided over 45\,0
00 people through tours of the Tenderloin. The tours have brought people
into the Tenderloin neighborhood to inform\, entertain\, and sometimes
completely astound them with visions and stories of the people who have
helped shape the neighborhood\, and also those who live and work there t
oday. This is an amazing part of San Francisco. The tour tells you all a
 bout it.\n\nSchedule:\n\n 12:30 – 12:45 – Meet in Freedom Hall (or
the back of the Sanctuary if events are going on in FH)\n 12:45 – 1:1
5pm – The history of Glide will be shared with the tour participants w
ith a short Glide building tour\n\n Then they depart\n\n\n\n&nbsp\;\n\n
&nbsp\;\nDEL SEYMOUR has spent many years on the very streets where he
now conducts the tours. An Army Veteran\, Del went back to his home in C
hicago in 1969 and immediately left for California. In his time in San F
rancisco\, he has seen the area from all angles: as an addict living on
the streets\, as a taxi driver\, as a husband (for only fifteen minutes
his self-described “Hollywood marriage”)\, as a volunteer at one o
f the many service organizations. His idea for Tenderloin Walking Tours
stems from his love of the neighborhood. He works in conjunction with ma
ny of the social agencies in the Tenderloin (he serves on the Board of T
he Gubbio Project among others) and also the companies that have moved i
nto the Market Street corridor and has received the respect of everyone
he involves. His knowledge and communication skills make him an ideal
docent’ for the area.\n\n\nShavonne Allen\n\nI am a proud San Francis
co native\, born at Mt. Zion and a graduate of Lowell High School and CS
 U Hayward. As a mother\, sister\, aunt\, artist\, and community activist
\, I am deeply connected to this community. I have developed strong rela
tionships and partnerships\, and I greatly admire the people who live\,
work\, and thrive here.\n\nLiving and working in the Tenderloin communit
y\, I have come to appreciate its diverse and vibrant personalities\, ri
ch history\, and resilient individuals. It is in this community that I f
ind purpose\, contribute to solutions\, and strive to be an agent of rea
l change.\n\nFurthermore\, I am an active member of the recovery communi
ty\, constantly growing\, healing\, and giving back. By sharing my resil
iency and triumphs\, I aim to support those who are still suffering.\nCo
