         Free\, Virtual Event. RSVP Now.\nDear GLIDE Staff\,\n\nJ
oin GLIDEs Center for Social Justice and explore truths around Sanctuary
Cities\, their history and why it was created and where we are today.\n
\nRefugees and immigrants are one in every three San Francisco residents
and are a vital part of our city’s heart and identity. In 2019\, 45%
of undocumented immigrants had been U.S. residents for more than 10 year
s.\n\nJoin those on the front lines to discuss why San Francisco’s his
toric Sanctuary ordinance is crucial to upholding our values of equality
and inclusion\, and to building safe strong communities.\n\nGLIDE’s C
enter for Social Justice works to influence public policy and perception
on justice and human rights. Our policy advocacy\, community organizing
\, experiential education\, and thought leadership seeks to drive social
change by amplifying community voices\, influencing mindsets\, creating
new cultural practices\, and transforming institutions of power.\n\nHos
t: Olga Talamante\n\nIs the Executive Director Emeritus of the Chicana L
atina Foundation (CLF). She became the first Executive Director of CLF i
n January 2003 serving in that position until March of 2018.  She recei
ved her BA from UC Santa Cruz and Honorary Doctorate Degree from the Uni
versity of San Francisco. She is widely respected for her community acti
vism and leadership in the Chicanx\, Latin American solidarity\, LGBTQ\,
  Immigrant\, and progressive political movements.\n\nShe currently co-ch

he Central American Resource Center --CARECEN SF’s 38+ years empowerin
g and responding to the needs\, rights and aspirations of Latinx\, immig
rant\, and under-resourced families in the San Francisco Bay Area –bui
lding leadership to pursue self-determination and justice.\n\nPrior to j

nity Development. In the late 90’s early 2000’s at KQED–Education
Network she implemented early education\, media literacy and Latin@ outr
each initiatives. In 2003 she founded Puentes Consulting focused on new

result of her advocacy and joint efforts with statewide coalitions\, the

workers. In 2019\, she was appointed as the first Dreamer to represent S
an Franciscans on the DCCC. As co-chair of SF Commissions for All\, she
