San Francisco, CA – The Glide Foundation (GLIDE) is pleased to welcome Sharon Osberg to its Board of Directors. With 25 years of leadership experience developing and executing financial technology services, Osberg’s executive management background and philanthropic concern for improving society will make an outstanding contribution to GLIDE’s strategic planning. In addition to Osberg’s background in leveraging technologies to advance banking services, her expertise also extends to being a world-champion master bridge player who has advised and taught legendary business leaders Warren Buffett and Bill Gates.
“We are truly honored and excited to have Sharon Osberg join our Board of Directors,” said GLIDE President & CEO Karen Hanrahan. “She is a remarkable leader whose business acumen helped shape and establish technology approaches in the financial sector. Her business insights will contribute to GLIDE’s planned rollout of an innovative Integrated Mobile Services initiative that will change the landscape of need across San Francisco. We are proud to welcome her to GLIDE’s board.”
Osberg’s stellar business career includes a journey of understanding and merging complex information technology and financial systems. Her early career included computer programming, which led to various technical positions in banking, including systems architect, development manager, and ultimately serving as Executive Vice President of Wells Fargo’s Online Financial Services Division. The bank’s first financial services internet platform was developed and implemented on her watch, with Osberg responsible for charting the financial institution’s internet compass and growing the online business.

Osberg’s background includes serving as Chief Operating Officer for 724 Solutions, Inc. in Toronto, Canada, and as a consultant in the fields of insurance, banking, and technology. Her professional experience includes serving on several corporate boards, including Seritage Growth Properties, Sequoia Fund, an advisor to a large insurance company, and on the boards of two non-profit conservation and research organizations.
Osberg said she has long admired the impact of GLIDE and appreciates the opportunity to be of service to the nationally recognized social justice organization. “It’s a privilege and an honor to join the GLIDE Board of Directors. My introduction to GLIDE occurred over 30 years ago through a very wise and caring woman. I look forward to reconnecting with GLIDE at this point in my life when, hopefully, I, too, am wiser.”
Osberg’s wisdom encompasses the competitive world of bridge, where she has garnered international recognition as a World Grand Master, having won two World Championships along with five national titles. Born and raised in New Jersey, Osberg graduated from Dickinson College and made a permanent move to the San Francisco Bay Area shortly after. She left the corporate world in the early 2000s to pursue her true passions: climate, environmental conservation, and wildlife photography and videography.
