SAN FRANCISCO, CA – Salesforce.com Foundation, the global leader in integrating philanthropy and business, today launched a donation matching campaign for the Glide Foundation to help it raise $100,000 to provide food services to its clients this holiday season. Supporting Quotes

  • “In times like these, it becomes apparent how critical organizations like the Glide Foundation are for providing many of the basic services to people in need,” said Suzanne DiBianca, Executive Director, Salesforce.com Foundation. “In launching the donation matching campaign, the Salesforce.com Foundation invites the public to donate to Glide to help ensure the success of a critical cornerstone of the community.”
  • “Glide is expecting to deliver services to a record number of the disenfranchised and poor this holiday season,” said Reverend Cecil Williams, Glide Founder and Minister of Liberation. “Every day, we’re seeing more and more people line up for our services and food. The matching program by the Salesforce.com Foundation will help us to make sure we can continue to provide people with the food they need to survive and try to get back on their feet.”

Giving Forward Through Integrated Philanthropy
The Salesforce.com Foundation is able to support Glide through salesforce.com’s 1/1/1 integrated corporate philanthropy model where 1 percent of employee time, 1 percent of the company’s equity, and 1 percent of the company’s product are delivered to nonprofits. In addition to the matching campaign that will aid Glide in serving three hot meals a day and handing out thousands of bags of groceries to people in need this holiday season, the Salesforce.com Foundation will provide additional support by allowing salesforce.com employees to take paid time off to volunteer in Glide services, including serving meals, leading activities with Glide youth, and participating in the toy giveaway December 21.

Salesforce.com Foundation’s relationship with Glide spans nearly a decade. During that time, more than 1,000 salesforce.com employees have donated more than 25,000 hours of service. Glide’s program participants has grown 30 percent over the past two years due to the recession and unemployment rates. Launched in 1969, Glide provides social services to people in need and is one of San Francisco’s largest and most comprehensive providers of innovative services for poor and marginalized people.
