FAMED BAY AREA ASIAN CHEFS COME TOGETHER WITH GLIDE THIS HOLIDAY SEASON 

 

Asian Culinary Association and GLIDE to Serve 2,500 Free Lunch and Dinner Meals at Annual Holiday Food Drive

 

SAN FRANCISCO, CA  - The Asian Culinary Association (ACA), a collection of the Bay Area’s most renowned Asian chefs, will host the annual Chefs Without Borders Holiday Lunch and Dinner, a free Asian holiday lunch and dinner to feed 2,500 poor and homeless clients of GLIDE on Monday, December 13. Lunch will be served from 11:30am – 2:30pm;  dinner is 4pm- 6pm at Glide, 330 Ellis at Taylor in San Francisco.


This is the seventh year the Asian Culinary Association, in partnership with the California Culinary Academy, prepares and serves a delicious Asian lunch and dinner for GLIDE’s clients.  This year’s menu features sweet and sour pork, Chinese egg rolls, chicken teriyaki with vegetables, noodle salad, steamed rice, fortune cookies, fruits and juices.  The food will be prepared at the California Culinary Academy (350 Rhode Island at 16th Street) the previous day, and delivered to GLIDE on Monday, December 13 where the chefs will cook and serve the meals.

 

“We are thankful for the continued generosity of the Asian Culinary Association”, said GLIDE’s Co-Founder and Founding President, Janice Mirikitani, “All the people who come to GLIDE for meals love the Asian soul food, hot, delicious, traditional Asian meals.” “Food is a universal way in which people come together as one community”, said GLIDE’s Co-Founder and Minister of Liberation Reverend Cecil Williams. “At the same time, we are celebrating this great diversity of the San Francisco community proudly with the Asian Culinary Association.”

 

Under the direction of executive chef Khai Duong (Ana Mandara in San Francisco) and executive chef Lawrence Chu (Chef Chu’s in Los Altos), participants this year include chef Philippe Striffeler of Hotel Nikko, Executive chef Michael Weller, chef Damon Barham and student chefs of California Culinary Academy (partner sponsor), as well as a great number of dedicated and hardworking volunteers.
