THE SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS, GLIDE, AND OTHER COMMUNITY PARTNERS TEAM UP FOR "STEP UP TO THE PLATE" NIGHT TO RAISE AWARENESS FOR THOSE LIVING IN POVERTY ON JUNE 22

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – The San Francisco Giants, GLIDE, At The Crossroads, Larkin St. Youth Services, Huckleberry Youth Programs, Walden House and Project Homeless Connect team up for the seventh annual “Step up to the Plate” night on Wednesday, June 22 at AT&T Park when the World Series Champion San Francisco Giants take on the Minnesota Twins. Fans who purchase a special event ticket will receive a seat in one of two Step up to the Plate designated sections at AT&T Park and a limited-edition Freddy Sanchez Bobblehead, depicting his iconic catch in Game 4 of the 2010 World Series. A portion of the proceeds will benefit GLIDE and other community partners.

Additionally, fans with special Step up to the Plate tickets will be treated to a pre-game party in Scoreboard Plaza (located within AT&T Park) from 5:45pm to 7:15pm with deejays, DJ King Most and DJ Marky Enriquez (SFNY, Wonder-Full). A pre-game Home Plate Ceremony with GLIDE founder and Minister of Liberation Reverend Cecil Williams and other representatives from each organization begins at 7:00pm, capped by the National Anthem sung by the GLIDE Ensemble. The ballgame begins at 7:15p.m.

“We applaud the San Francisco Giants for going to bat for those who struggle with hunger and poverty every day,” said GLIDE Founder and Minister of Liberation Reverend Cecil Williams. “To reach out and serve those less fortunate is the sign of a true champion.”

Tickets for Step up to the Plate night can be purchased by visiting sfgiants.com/specialevents or by calling 415-972-2233. AT&T Park is located at 24 Willie Mays Plaza in San Francisco.
