GLIDE HEALTH SERVICES TEAMS UP WITH WELLS FARGO TO BRING DENTAL VAN TO PEOPLE WITH
LOW- AND NO INCOME

Now through June 17th
Media Invited to Tour Van Thursday, June 16 at 10:30am

WHAT:
Open House for media to tour Toothtravelers dental van on Thursday, June 16 at 10:30am

GLIDE Health Services and Wells Fargo have teamed up to bring Toothtravelers to patients of GLIDE Health Services. Toothtravelers is a tailor-made, forty-foot motor home consisting of two dental chairs, x-ray equipment and a lab -- all the equipment necessary to deliver comprehensive care. Providing dental screening, teeth cleaning, fillings, simple extractions, fluoride treatments, X-rays and dental health education to youth and adults who do not have access to dental care, Toothtravelers is a full-service dental office on wheels. The program is funded by Wells Fargo.

Toothtravelers will be stationed in GLIDE’s parking lot from Monday, June 6th through Friday, June 17th.  The diagnosed dental work will be performed inside the van and dental education will be offered to patients while they wait.  In addition, they will receive a dental kit. GLIDE is expecting that many of the patients will be seeing a dentist for the first time in years and may require significant work.  Patients with dental concerns beyond the scope of the Dental Van will be referred to UCSF, UOP and other community clinics.

PLEASE NOTE: Toothtravelers visits are only open to patients of GLIDE Health Services, most of whom have been on a six month waiting list to fulfill this very critical need.

“By providing free oral screenings and dental treatments to these underserved youth and adults, GLIDE Health Services is taking a crucial step to help their self-esteem, oral hygiene and overall well-being,” said Karen Hill, GLIDE Health Services Clinic Manager.

"Wells Fargo is proud to provide resources so that people in need can get critical dental health services," said Maggie Mui, Wells Fargo's San Francisco Regional President. "When people are healthy, they are more able to focus on other parts of their lives such as their jobs, careers and financial health. I am glad that through this partnership, we are positively impacting the lives of many San Franciscans, and helping them get their confidence and smiles back."
