GLIDE FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES JANICE GOW PETTEY AS NEW CHIEF DEVELOPMENT OFFICER

SAN FRANCISCO – GLIDE Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Janice Gow Pettey as their new Chief Development Officer.  Gow Pettey, selected from a field of stellar candidates, brings 32 years of experience in fundraising and philanthropy to GLIDE.  Ms. Gow Pettey began her new role at GLIDE on October 24, 2011, prior to GLIDE’s busy holiday season.

As GLIDE’s Chief Development Officer, Ms. Gow Pettey will lead all individual and institutional fundraising efforts to meet the objectives of the Glide Foundation and its $16 million annual budget.

Gow Pettey comes to GLIDE from her her private consulting business, J.G. Pettey & Associates, where her clients included Public Library of Science, Pacific Graduate School of Psychology, Audubon Canyon Ranch, Center on Philanthropy (Indiana), Chinatown Resource Development Center, California Dental Association, Conard House, Dartmouth College, Center for the Integration and Improvement of Journalism (The Knight Ridder Foundation), The Beautiful Foundation (Seoul, South Korea), University of Melbourne (Australia), Lilly Foundation, Flintridge Foundation, and Festival of Children Foundation among others.

As Chief Executive Officer of Sacramento Region Community Foundation from January 2001 to December 2004, Ms Gow Pettey saw contributions to the Foundation grow from $23 million to $86 million. In 2003 Sacramento Magazine named her Outstanding Woman.

A Chinese American and fourth generation Californian, Ms. Gow Pettey is also a published author and editor of two books on fundraising and philanthropy. Gow Pettey holds numerous awards, accolades, and certificates including Lifetime Achievement in Philanthropy, Golden Gate Chapter AFP, 2008; Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) award for Outstanding Published Scholarship, “Cultivating Diversity in Fundraising,” 2003; American Red Cross, California Golden Bear award, Outstanding Fundraiser, 1999; American Red Cross, President’s Award for Outstanding Fundraising, 1997 and 1998; United Way Outstanding Fundraiser, 1983,1984,1985,1986; American Red Cross, Level 5 fundraising officer (designated to work in disasters of the largest magnitude.); Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE), 1993-present.
