What Information We Collect
Non-Personally Identifiable Information
When you enter the Website, information is gathered from your Internet browser. This information may include your IP address and log files (which allows us to determine the identity of your Internet Service Provider), your operating system and the type of browser software that you are using to access the Website. All information obtained from your browser is anonymous, and no personal information is ever transmitted to us in this manner. The Website may use a standard technology called a “cookie,” or web beacons, or other similar technology to collect information about how you use the Website. Cookies reside on your computer and help the Website recognize your computer’s browser as a previous visitor. On occasion, the Website may also set a “session cookie” which helps us administer the Website. The session cookie expires when you close your browser and does not retain any information about you after it expires. We may collect information about your computer or mobile phone, including your IP address, operating system, and browser type, for system administration and in order to create reports. We may also collect demographic information such as location, language, gender, age, and interests in order to create reports, leading to website content improvements. This is statistical data about our users’ browsing actions and patterns, and does not identify any individual. GLIDE uses Google Analytics in order to better understand how users interact with the Website. Google Analytics uses first-party cookies to track visitor interactions, as in our case, where they are used to collect information about how visitors use the Website. We then use the information provided by Google Analytics to compile reports and to make changes to the Website. Cookies contain information that is transferred to your computer’s hard drive. These cookies are used to store information, such as the time that the current visit occurred, whether the visitor has been to the site before and what site referred the visitor to the web page. Google Analytics collects information anonymously. It reports website trends without identifying individual visitors. You can opt out of Google Analytics without affecting how you visit the Website – for more information on opting out of being tracked by Google Analytics across all websites you use, visit https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. If you use a standard web browser, you should be able to modify your browser preference to provide you with choices relating to cookies; for example, you should have the choice to accept all cookies, to be notified when a cookie is set, or to reject all cookies. If you choose to reject cookies, you may be unable to use certain Website services (e.g., those services that require you to log on to the Website). For more information on modifying your browser preference, please refer to the documentation accompanying your browser.
In order to make a donation on the Website, you must first complete a donation form, which will ask you to give us personally identifiable information (such as name, email address, mailing address, and telephone number) and financial information (such as account or credit card numbers). We will use your personally identifiable information to send you donation and tax receipts. We will use your personally identifiable information to send you announcements and notifications that may be of interest to you. By giving the Website your credit card and related personal information, you are authorizing us to give that information to a credit card company to complete your donation or recurring pledge.
In order to sign up as a volunteer on the Website, you must first create a user name and password and provide GLIDE with personally identifiable information (such as your name, email address, age, and phone number). We will use such information to complete the set up of your account in order for you to volunteer at GLIDE. We may also use this personally identifiable information to send you announcements and notifications that may be of interest to you.
The Website may offer merchandise and/or services, which may be offered by us or by an entity that operates a store under contract with us. If the Website offers shopping or other commercial services, you will use a customer order form to purchase products and/or request information and services. The order form will ask you to give us personally identifiable information (such as name, email address, mailing address, and telephone number), financial information (such as account or credit card numbers), and demographic information (such as zip code or age). We will use your mailing address to fulfill orders of merchandise as well as to send you announcements and notifications that may be of interest to you. We will use the financial information that you provide to bill you for products and services. By giving the Website your credit card and related personal information, you are authorizing us to give that information to the merchant (if the merchant is a separate entity) and credit card company in order to confirm and fulfill your order. We may use your email address or mobile telephone number’s messaging capability to send you special announcements or notifications of events or services that may be of interest to you and to verify and authorize the use of your credit card for services for which you have registered or requested.
