Why am I writing this blog?

by Rita Shimmin, Co-Executive Director
Why am I writing this blog?… Because GLIDE is entering the online, digital age and pulling me along with it. We are upgrading the look and feel of our website and developing a social-networking application to engage and grow our online community. Why do we want you to have a better experience on our website? Why do we want more and more people sharing the GLIDE experience through social media? Because GLIDE is in the business of social change; and everybody knows that social change is happening online and through social-networking.
Internet technology has given GLIDE new avenues to reach people who are interested in social justice and joining us in our mission to break cycles of poverty and spread love to those on the margins. We are so excited to see the reach of GLIDE’s love through our internet community and we welcome you to visit us through our website, this blog, follow us on Twitter and Facebook and check out client, staff, and volunteer vlogs on YouTube and Vimeo.
So, why am I writing this blog? To welcome you, to invite you to join our online family, and to thank you for your commitment to social change.
