Transportation, child care, medical insurance: Families without adequate support often find themselves bending or breaking from the pressures of daily living. The goal of Glide's Family Services programs is to support the entire family unit. Glide provides an extended family to grow with and a community to draw strength from. Everyone--from youth to seniors--is given the resources they need to realize their own power and potential.

 

The Janice Mirikitani Family, Youth, and Childcare Center (FYCC) provides children and their families with licensed childcare (infant, toddler and preschooler age) and after-school programs including tutoring, computer instruction, creative arts, mentoring, counseling, advocacy, case management, and nutrition education. Many of the families have experienced homelessness and substance abuse; they are struggling to improve the families’ situation. 

 

In 2007, FYCC  provided over 100,000 total hours of licensed childcare and/or quality after-school programming to over 325 unduplicated clients, ages 0-17. Each year, Glide gives thousands of children’s gifts to familes in need during the holiday season.
