The GLIDE Pride Team Lends Support and Plans Advocacy Events

Glide Pride Team Meeting

You can learn more and get involved in the GLIDE Pride Team here.

The GLIDE Pride Team met on Sunday, February 4th. During the meeting, members of the community shared food, fellowship and organized for upcoming events. The Pride Team’s mission is to educate the world on social justice, unconditional love, and acceptance of the LGBTQ+ community. We take pride in leading GLIDE’s efforts in promoting equal justice for LGBTQ+-related causes, supporting community organizations in the greater San Francisco area and other Glide Memorial Church community groups.  The group, has existed for decades though it’s name has evolved over the years.

During their February meeting, participants checked-in and supported each other.  One visitor, from a college in Minnesota, expressed interest in bringing students on a trip to San Francisco.  She believed the Pride Team would be a support and resource to the young adults she teaches.

More than just a peer-support group, the GLIDE Pride Team also organizes, designs and promotes a number of events throughout the year.  Themes and designs are voted on by the group as they celebrate, promote and encourage people throughout San Francisco.  The congregational life group participates in rallies, marches and walks that are significant to the community. And, the group hosts fundraisers to ensure that people of all ages and abilities can join their events and activities.

If you would like to get involved with any of these events, you are welcome to join us at the next meeting.  GLIDE Pride Team Meetings are the first Sunday of every month.  We meet in Room 206 (at 330 Ellis at Taylor in San Francisco) after the 11 am Sunday Celebration.  We serve a free lunch, share stories, plan events and be in community.  Everyone is welcome!
