SF Sheriff’s Department Oversight Board Community Meeting

GLIDE’s Center for Social Justice, Congregational Life Community Engagement, and the SF Sheriff’s Department Oversight Board are hosting a community meeting on June 8th, 2023, at GLIDE Freedom Hall, 330 Ellis St. San Francisco, Ca 94102 from 6 to 8 PM. The meeting will provide community members with a space to voice their opinions about the hiring of an Inspector General. The Inspector General will investigate misconduct within the Sheriff’s Department.

In 2020 the voters of San Francisco overwhelmingly voted for Proposition D. Prop D created two new oversight bodies for the San Francisco County Sheriff’s Department.

The Sheriff’s Department Oversight Board and the Office of Inspector General

  • The Office of Inspector General investigates misconduct within the Sheriff’s Department.
  • The seven-person Sheriff’s Department Oversight Board makes policy recommendations to the Sheriff and Board of Supervisors concerning department operations, complaints against employees and contractors, and in-custody deaths.

Community feedback is important, and we encourage you to join us and share your thoughts and opinions about law enforcement accountability with the Sheriff’s Oversight Board. Translation will be provided in Spanish and Cantonese.  For more information please contact Erick Arguello, Advocacy Manager at earguello@glide.org.

In solidarity,

GLIDE’s Center for Social Justice
