Cecil williams fund for the hungry

At GLIDE, we believe in food for ALL—no exceptions, no exclusions. Because nutrition is a necessity, not a luxury. It’s an essential part of a full and healthy life. Regardless of income, immigration status, race or ethnicity, everyone should be able to access the food they need.

We see the pain of hunger every day in our own state, where one in five people are food insecure—and one in six children don’t have enough to eat. Deep disparities remain for Black and Latinx people (28.9 percent and 27.5 percent respectively) who experience hunger at double the rate for white people.

Today’s economic challenges have only widened the gap, making it harder for our most vulnerable neighbors to meet their basic needs like nutritious meals.

Today and every day, we need your help to make this transformative work possible and elevate the lives of your most vulnerable neighbors.

Thanks to generous matching gifts from SoMa Equity Partners and an anonymous donor totaling $75k, your donation will be doubled!
Will you help us today? Every dollar matters.

One in four people here in San Francisco experiences food
insecurity. And the prolonged health crisis has only
worsened these levels. GLIDE remains the city’s only
program that serves three nutritious meals a day.

GLIDE’s Daily Free Meals program is currently providing
10,000+ nutritious meals weekly, including on-site in
the Tenderloin and, since the onset of the pandemic, to
individuals and community partners across the city.

GLIDE’s steadfast supply of nutritious meals, prepared and
served largely by peers hired from the community, has
been central to GLIDE’s ability to build trust and engage
vulnerable populations with a range of integrated services,
empowering people to achieve stability and thrive.

Thank you to our community partners, donors and dedicated staff.
