MEDIA IS INVITED TO JOIN GLIDE FOR THANKSGIVING
WHAT and WHEN:
SAN FRANCISCO — GLIDE is gearing up for one of its most impactful Thanksgiving holiday ever—and we’re inviting media to join us as we meet record food insecurity across San Francisco.
Below are key opportunities for coverage, powerful visuals, and interviews.
1. Turkey Drive
Tuesday–Wednesday, Nov. 25–26 | 11:00 AM–5:30 PM
330 Ellis Street (Turkey Tent)
GLIDE is calling on the community to donate frozen turkeys that will help feed thousands.
Expect high-energy visuals—including our Director of Volunteerism in her legendary turkey costume.
Community champions stepping up this year include:
Patrick Jacobs, President & CEO of Innovation Advertising, donating 300+ turkeys and hams
Jesse Kay-Rugen of Bus Stop Bar SF, donating 60 turkeys
2. Thanksgiving Day – Thursday Nov 27th
Time Line:
- 6am: Turkey and Ham Carving Begins
- 11am – 2pm: Meal Service

Nearly 2,500 Thanksgiving meals—ham, turkey, sides, and desserts—will be served onsite and delivered across the city.
Guests will enjoy a warm, dignified dining experience with table service from GLIDE staff and volunteers.
3. Glide Memorial Church Thanksgiving Celebration
Thursday, Nov. 27 | 10:00 AM
Led by Minister of Celebration Marvin K. White, featuring the world-renowned Glide Ensemble & The Change Band.
Expect music, joy, and powerful community storytelling.

WHY: This Thanksgiving, GLIDE is stepping up to meet a level of food insecurity San Francisco hasn’t seen in many years. The holiday matters more than ever for families squeezed by the “three I’s” driving today’s hardship—Inflation, rising Insurance costs, and Inaccessibility of food assistance. When SNAP fell through, GLIDE saw record demand, serving more than a thousand meals in a single day and helping nearly a hundred people access emergency benefits. With groceries 25% more expensive than five years ago, it’s essential that GLIDE open our doors in welcome to everyone who needs a warm place to celebrate.
