GLIDE Introduces The Shop!

the shop welcome

Welcome to The Shop !

We are a substance use treatment resource hub located in the TL, serving as a safe, therapeutic space for all. Our model combines professional barber services with direct connections to SUD treatment, recovery services, and ongoing clinical support. Our goal is to address overdose fatalities, substance use disorders, mental health struggles, and social isolation by leveraging the trusted, community-building role of a barbershop to connect participants to care at GLIDE and in the community.

GLIDE Foundation welcomes and serves all ethnicities and populations within the City with focused expertise to meet the unique cultural needs of older Black/African American (B/AA) men ages 50+, residents who use drugs and are disproportionately impacted by fatal opioid overdoses particularly those living or spending time in the Tenderloin and surrounding neighborhoods, who also experience social isolation and substance use disorder.
The Shop serves as an entry point to GLIDE’s continuum of SUD treatment and recovery services, including MAT/MOUD navigation (add hyperlink to HEAT page), contingency management (add hyperlink to HEAT page), counseling, case management, and referrals to community-based withdrawal management, residential treatment, and outpatient programs.

The Shop is more than a haircut – It’s an invitation to critical health conversations, building dignity, community, and a pathway to GLIDE’s full continuum of care.
