Greetings Glide Family!
The Congregational Life Groups and their leaders have an amazing journey ahead for all of us! God has even greater things in store, yet to be revealed.
As we wrapped up our first round of our Stupski Community Care Network trainings; the new, increased, and amply equipped Care Ministers are ready to start the first roll out of referrals for participants in need to be able to access this compassionate and resourceful care net for our congregation, family, neighbors, and community. This is a great and blessed program that will provide needed supports to those among us with serious illness, palliative, and end of life stage care to our beloved community. What a great work our Minister of Celebration Reverend Marvin K. White and the grants team have created for us to connect and carry out with our Glide Memorial Church family and beyond. We belong here and we care for one another. Our partners who will be taking care of the heath care portion of this grant are AC Care Alliance and the UCSF MERI Center. They have been a great source of education and compassion as we learn to have more intimate conversations around serious illness and death so we can better support each other through those difficult times. So much more to come. There is also great news about the Ensemble; they are resuming the Care Choir; if you’d like to participate please contact churchoffice@glide.org.
The Congregational Life groups are bustling with energy to serve our congregation in all it’s various needs; from revamping and re-creating our Glide’s Kids and family activities to amping up our efforts with the Racial Justice Group and the White Anti-Racism Group collaborations to bring true partnership and change to a systemically racist system that seeks to marginalize, oppress, and ignore the needs of our most at risk populations. We are moving full speed ahead with our work regarding SF African American Reparations Advisory Committee and urging our local officials, specifically the Board of Supervisors and our beloved Mayor London Breed, to support, approve, and implement the hundreds of years of brutalities against the Black community and atone for the wrongs that continue to be done to black people in SF. Our next meeting for Racial Justice Group is on Tuesday, July 25th at 5pm on zoom. Also, the next SF African American Reparations Committee meeting is being held on Monday, August 14th starting at 530 pm and is a hybrid meeting. Meeting information can be found here, or you can contact Freddy Martin at fmartin@glide.org or 415-674-6168 or see sf.gov and search reparations meetings.
There are so many things to share and so little space to write it in; but here’s a brief update on everything we are doing:
