GLIDE Elves Will Be Hard at Work Tuesday (12/19/23) During Our Annual Toy Bag Giveaway

Come To Our Workshop to View Toy Sorting, Packing, & Bagging for Neighborhood Children

WHAT: GLIDE volunteers and VIPs will come together to make sure San Francisco children have a very merry Christmas this year. More than two thousand gifts will be sorted, bagged and bought for our youngest, most deserving clients.  These hand-picked gifts are based on interests and ages.

The bags of toys will be distributed to participants in GLIDE’s Family, Youth and Childcare Center; Family Resource Center; Violence Intervention Programs; and Walk-in Center.

WHEN: Tuesday, December 19, 2023. Volunteers will work in two shifts. Shift #1 – 10AM-12PM. Shift #2 – 1PM-3PM. During that time, they will open boxes, sort toys, go shopping, and bag toys.

WHERE: GLIDE – 330 Ellis Street, San Francisco, CA 94102

WHO: GLIDE volunteers and dignitaries will be available for interviews. Dr. Gina Fromer – GLIDE’s President & CEO, who was also once a GLIDE client, will arrive during Shift #1.

Many San Francisco elected officials and city leaders will arrive during Shift #2.

WHY: Children deserve to celebrate during the holidays and feel the love and

connection of a community. GLIDE is here for them. The need is higher than ever as families deal with unemployment, rising inflation, and increasing housing costs.  In San Francisco County, 46% of Black children live in poverty, compared to 3% of white children. More than 8,000 people experienced homelessness every night in San Francisco.
