The Annual Grocery Bag Giveaway Will Bring Deliveries to San Franciscans in Need 

WHAT:  GLIDE’s annual Grocery Bag Giveaway, sponsored by the Gap Foundation & Gap Inc, will deliver 4,000 bags of groceries to people facing food insecurity across this city. Glide is proud to celebrate over 30 years of a partnership with Gap Inc to support low income San Franciscans.

One grocery bag feeds a family of four (feeding a total of 16,000 people). Each bag will have all the fixings for a delicious holiday meal. Grocery bags feature ingredients to reflect the rich cultural traditions of San Franciscans. Collaboration with 22 neighborhood and community partners ensure that we target the people most impacted by food insecurity.

At this event, along with over 75 volunteer staff from Gap Inc., GLIDE  will pack and deliver groceries to San Francisco neighborhoods including the Bayview, Outer Mission,, Chinatown, Western Addition, Japantown, and more.

Media Opportunities:

• Monday, 12/8/2025
  • 10:30am: Gap Inc staff will be sorting and prepping groceries bags at GLIDE (330 Ellis St.)
• Wednesday, 12/10/2025:
  • 11:00am: CCDC – Chinatown. GLIDE will deliver ~ 600 groceries bags
  • 1:00 pm: SF Community Living Campaign – Outer Mission. GLIDE will deliver ~700 groceries bags

Leadership is available for interview pre and post events. We have other delivery locations should the above times prove difficult.

WHY: With cuts to the social safety net, San Franciscans are experiencing a level of food insecurity they haven’t seen in many years. Families are being squeezed by the “three I’s”: Inflation, rising Insurance costs, and Inaccessibility of food assistance. With grocery prices 25% more expensive than five years ago, it’s essential that GLIDE support our communities.
