GLIDE TO PACK 5,500 BAGS OF GROCERIES AND
DELIVER TO SAN FRANCISCANS FACING FOOD INSECURITY
DURING THEIR ANNUAL GROCERY BAG GIVEAWAY
WHAT:
GLIDE continues to expand its reach to fight food insecurity by providing help and hope to individuals, families, and community-based organizations across San Francisco during its annual Grocery Bag Giveaway.
Grocery bags contain everything needed for a special holiday meal for four people – a whole free-range chicken or turkey, potatoes or rice, mac & cheese, vegetables, dinner rolls.
Major packing occurs Tuesday, Dec. 6 with a prep shift at 9:30-11:30 a.m. and with GLIDE leadership staff available for interviews. Monday, Dec. 5 includes a 9:30 –11:30 a.m. initial prep and layout. Grocery bags will be packed by GLIDE leaders, staff and volunteers in GLIDE’s Freedom Hall (330 Ellis Street).
On Wednesday, Dec. 7, GLIDE will deliver 5,500 bags to community-based organizations across the city helping low-income residents in hard hit neighborhoods, including Bayview, Outer Mission, Richmond, Chinatown, Japantown and more.
GLIDE’s Grocery Bag Giveaway is sponsored by Gap Inc. In addition to funding support, Gap provides volunteers to support this effort.

WHEN:

9:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
GLIDE leadership, staff and volunteers will fill bags of groceries in GLIDE’s parking lot and Freedom Hall.
Wednesday, December 7; mobile distribution throughout SF: 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Delivery trucks will leave GLIDE at 7am and to distribute 5,500 bags to 21 locations throughout the day across the city.
