GLIDE’s Center for Social Justice Launches First Cohort of Social Justice Academy

GLIDE’s Center for Social Justice (CSJ) welcomed the first cohort of our Social Justice Academy (SJA) on April 3rd. The cohort, which consists of ten women who have experienced homelessness, incarceration, and other systemic inequities, got to know each other through ice breakers and community building activities, before joining GLIDE staff in Freedom Hall for a celebratory lunch.

Policy DGO 9.07 Passed Thanks in Part to GLIDE’s Center for Social Justice in Partnership with the Coalition

GLIDE’s Center for Social Justice (CSJ) in partnership with the Coalition to End Biased Stops organized community advocacy for two and a half years to pass DGO 9.07. This policy curtails racially biased pretext stops, consent searches, and improves traffic stop data reporting requirements by SFPD.

End Poverty Tows Coalition calls for safe parking and affordable housing

A community of families with children, students, and seniors who cannot afford the Bay Area’s high rents are living in RVs near Lake Merced. This community is facing the threat of 4-hour parking restrictions, which will require them to leave work or school to regularly move their vehicles or face ticketing and towing. Implementing the new parking restrictions without anywhere else to go will push families deeper into instability and homelessness.
